This image was taken at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Oregon on Easter Sunday, 2007. They have two beautiful steam tractors that run through the tulip fields...I loved the color in this shot...I am looking forward to going back this spring and taking some more pictures, hopefully without the rain!

April 27 - "Big Bubbles, No Troubles" - Inspired by Kristie, this shot was a spontaious attempts to blend the flowers we had just planted and the bubbles we had just gotten for the kids. The title is my mom's favorite phrase

We had a garage sale find this weekend and are in the midst of refinishing the table top and chair seats...As I was putting everything away this evening, I got this crazy idea and gave it a shot....or actually about 20 shots...this was the best of the 20. Not the greatest, but not too shabby ;-)

June 27 - My son and I just returned from our first ever backpacking adventure. We were in the Yosemite Back Country for four days (Sunday through today) and had an amazing trip. It will take me some time to sort through all of the pictures (I hauled my D200 with only the 18 - 70 lens and a light tripod...most of the other backpackers commented, "that is not a backpacking camera" I carried it in my hand all of the 27 miles we did...haha).

This shot is from our first stop...we began in Tuolumne Meadows and hiked to the Cathedral Lakes (That is Cathedral Peak and reflection in the shot here). Although it was only 4 miles into the trail, we stayed a night here because it was BEAUTIFUL!!

I will post more later...it was a grand trip and I hope to do more....hopefully I will be in better shape next time!

I was reviewing some old pictures today and decided I liked this, so I cropped it out. I like the colors in this image...its from the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Oregon...I took this one Easter Sunday. Your comments are always appreciated!

November 24 - Multnomah Falls in Oregon - We went to visit Family in Oregon for the Holiday and made a little side run to see some falls. Thoughts or comments?

February 4 - Light at the end of the Tunnel - Been a while since my last post...am trying to get back into the swing of things...please let me know your thoughts on this one! Thanks!

June 13 - These guys were very resourceful drinking from this tap at the fish washing station on a dock in Santa Cruz!

September 24 - In your Eyes -

Kristie and I went out for a Sunday afternoon drive and an attempt to take some pictures...after about 45 minutes, I had not stopped once, so Kristie came up with a good idea to make sure we actually shot SOMETHING! She had me set the trip meter and we agreed to stop every 5 miles, no matter where we were, and shoot what ever was there. We actually got a few good shots...this was my favorite.

June 15 - SWIMMING IN CLOVER - this shot was taken on a walk through of the redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains...the clover was everywhere and really beautiful, this oak leaf seemed to stand out, and I thought the contrast was nice.

September 30 - Yosemite Bears!!! - My son and I went to Yosemite today in hunt of the elusive bears that we have heard about for years. Once, a few years ago, we saw a bear from a long distance. Well, today our wish was answered!

Within an hour of parking in the valley (Curry Village), we had our encounter. We spotted and then followed these two for about 45 minutes as they ate, browsed, and played. After they had their fill of grubs, they went to a thicket and laid down.

Aaron and I went to the village and had lunch and then returned to the same area where we had left the the two earlier. We were lucky enough to find them again as they browsed and crossed a river.

Sun and shade were harsh and the distance was significant (for safety). So of the 175 shots I took, Only a handful were acceptable, and of those, only a few were approaching good. I did learn one thing...ALWAYS USE A TRIPOD. All of my hand held shots failed to make the grade.
